What is the Sonetics Configuration Utility?

The Sonetics Configuration Utility is a windows application used to configure and update Sonetics, Firecom, and Flightcom devices. You can get a download link for it here.

Is the Sonetics Configuration Utility compatible with Mac OS?

No not currently but future development could include this. For now, we recommend that the configuration utility be installed on a PC or Laptop with Windows 7 or newer operating systems. 

Should I upgrade my Sonetics firmware?

The latest version offers new features that provide better sound quality, easier use and simplified control. If you are adding additional headsets to your system, these headsets will arrive with the latest firmware version. To avoid confusion, it is recommended that all of your headsets have the latest firmware version. 

How do I tell which firmware version of firmware is on my device?

The firmware version is available in the Advanced Menu on devices that currently have been updated to version 12. These devices will automatically tell you which version you currently have. For devices that have not been updated to version 12, you can find your version by plugging in your device and using the Sonetics Configuration Utility.

Do I need to send my headset in to have the firmware updated?

Well you could…but save time by doing it yourself. It’s easy! Just download the Sonetics Configuration Utility and use it to update your devices, it contains the latest available firmware. Also watch the videos above to quickly understand how to update. 

Where do I find the manuals?

Manuals are available in the manuals tab. Also, if a device is connected to the Sonetics Configuration Utility, you can click on the Help pull down menu, and then click on product manual. The correct manual will automatically be downloaded to your computer.

Will this update affect how I enter the main and advanced menu?

Will this update change how I pair my headset to a base station?

If I update my base station will I have to pair my headset again?

Yep, due to upgrades in DECT communications and other features, you will need to pair your headsets to your base station.

It took me a long time to configure my headset to my liking, if I update my headset will my current configuration be changed?

Yep. To take advantage of all the new functionality, the headset is returned to the factory default settings. The good news is that with the new Sonetics Configuration Tool, you can configure your custom settings quickly and save them for future updates.  So you can recall your saved settings at the click of a button.

New Features:

Pairing Headsets to Base Stations now requires that you hold the Power and PTT buttons down longer.

To help prevent accidental shutdown during use, a longer power button press is required to turn off the Headsets.

Headsets and Base Stations connect more quickly.

Main and advanced menus have been combined into a single menu.

The advanced menu can only be accessed at startup, and is harder to accidentally access.

Further noise reduction has been added. An intercom PTT setting was added to the Headsets.

Base Stations

New Features

Base Stations are easier to configure for Digital Intercom, Legacy Intercom, and ComHub use.

The Base Station firmware revision is indicated on the Port LEDs at start-up.

Once paired, Headsets and Base Stations connect more quickly.

Further noise reduction implemented for some Base Station connections.

New Wide/Narrow band audio filters were added.
